The Conspiracy of Eight loses a man in the aftermath of Jei and Kitanamono's fight.

The fugitives Tomoe, Ikeda, Noriyuki and Motokazu must finally turn and face their pursuer, Councillor Arimura.

Still hard in pursuit of Kitanamono, Usagi and Gen come upon Jei with Grasscutter in hand. Jei and Usagi square off for a long-awaited duel, with the fate of Grasscutter and the nation at stake, just as Keiko arrives.

In the end, the enigmatic Jei makes a crucial choice that decides the duel.
