Stan has been asked to contribute a story for Marvel's mini-series, Marvel Underground. The story will star The Hulk in Feudal Japan as an oni samurai, to keep the continuity with Japanese folklore. Usagi hires a guide over the mountain pass plagued with bandits, and now regularly patrolled by the magistrate's guards. After the Lord of Owls kills a group of seemingly innocent pilgrims, Usagi gets involved.

Usagi Yojimbo: Yokai is an all-new original, 57-page fully-painted hardcover graphic novel due out in November of this year. Yokai are the monsters, demons, and spirits of Japanese folklore, so they are perfect subjects for a Usagi story in which every page is a color painting. You don't want to miss out of this one!

Yes you read right...Lord Hikiji faces imminent destruction! In UY 123, Usagi meets some old comrades from the days he served under Lord Mifune. It was Hikiji who killed their lord, and turned them all into ronin (masterless samurai). The group have been trying to avenge their lord, but, over the years, their numbers have dwindled. Now they have the perfect opportunity, and Usagi is pivotal for their plans.

Due out in time for San Diego Comic Con 2009. It collects UY 94-102. Stan hasn't used a bright yellow/red color scheme since Book 3, and he replaced that cover about 10 years ago.
