Der USAGI-Stammtisch (deutsch)

Postby TigerRider » Thu Jun 02, 2016 10:01 +0000

Hallo Leute,

Jens/ TigerRider

What do you think it costs to ship one comic from Germany? That can't be cheap.

I contacted the publisher, Josch Dantes, to get an answer to that question. :)

IF it won't be possible for him to ship to the U.S. I'm sure we'll find a way to feed the hungry USAGI-in-german-readers.

Der Readers,
Do these books pick up following Usagi Yojimbo #14 "Ein Bisschen Grun"? published by Schwarzer Turm?
Thank you in advance for this clarification.
Best wishes to all.

No, they will fill in the gap in the books that Schwarzer Turm released. Hopefully they will be successful enough that they do pick up after book 14 later on.

Carlsen released books 1 - 5 starting in April 1996.

Schwarzer Turm released books 8 - 13 beginning in October 2001, as well as re-releasing books 1 - 4 starting in January 2004.

Dantes will re-release book 5 this month, then they will release a volume which combines books 6 and 7 in March 2017, which has stories that have never been translated into German before.

Of course, the German editions are of a different format than the English editions and the German books 1, 2, 3 (etc.) do not correspond directly to the original English editions.

Book 5 from Dantes will contain the following stories:

- The Return of the Blind Sword
- The Blade of the Gods
- The Tea Cup
- The Shogun's Gift (previously unpublished in German)
- Turtle soup and Rabbit Stew (previously unpublished in German)

Book 6/7 will contain the complete Dragon's Bellow Conspiracy story.....

Der Readers,
Steve, thank you very much for the clarification on content.

Before paypal, i was fortunate to connect with Michael Moeller at Schwarzer Turm.
He would send me the books as they were published and i would send him concealed usa cash with enough for book, postage and a tasty drink for Michael. It was a wonderful international cooperation.
Are sure the postage to the usa is free?
The German post office is great.
I once bought a book on eBay from a seller in Germany who said they sent it by ship.
Germany to California in 3 days! I think they used a space ship.
Vielen dank !

Today I received No5 "Die Klinge der Götter". I like it. :)

The paper is pretty smooth, the print sharp and dark.
The translation and lettering are well done.
It fits almost perfect into the "Schwarzer-Turm-collection" although the spine ot the book is bit less black than the other ones are.

I'll order the next one, too.

Greetings
Jens
