Story Synopsis

Usagi and Gen stage a few confrontations to get both gangs riled up; but rumors that Maeda has hired Shizukiri, an even more skilled warrior, make them nervous. Maeda decides that enough is enough, and orders Usagi to attack Joya’s gambling house. Usagi and Gen pretend to charge each other but go after the gang members instead! The gang members panic and flee; Joya attacks Maeda and kills him, and Usagi kills Joya. As our two heroes survey the wreckage, a mysterious ronin arrives…Shizukiri! He claims that he was promised a five-hundred ryo retainer just for coming to town. Steangely, Gen hands over the money that he’d been paid without a comment or a complaint. Usagi and Shizukiri stare each other down, and Usagi blinks! As Shizukiri rides away, Gen and Usagi bicker about how they still don’t have any money—Gen gave his away, and Usagi won’t rob a dead man.
